About Tamila

I have worked with children and families at nearly every stage of my life and education for 9+ years; I worked with D. C.'s summer youth employment program and at RECESS (children's gym) in DUMBO as I earned my Master's degree. I am a voice actor and event producer. I have traveled to 6 countries-- living in Mexico (3 years) and South Africa (1 year). I have experience working with families of 2 children at ages of 2-10 years old. I am a former school teacher for general ed and children with IEPs at grades 1-4. I bring a 'world citizen' perspective to childcare--teaching children about global traditions, cuisine, customs and helping them develop empathy and curiosity for others. I have created enriching, screen-time-alternative activities (DIY crafts, creative prompting, etc.) and mastered de-escalation and active listening. Teaching honed my ability to keep calm under pressure, mediate conflicts, set firm but kind boundaries, and communicate with different personality types.
