Rohina started working with us when my daughter was 6 months old, and she helped us fill about a 3 month gap before her transition to daycare. In this time, Rohina has built such a strong bond with our daughter and fit so seamlessly into our family. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Rohina really cared to get to know us as a family and made a point to ask specifics about our routines, habits, and preferences so that she could fit in seamlessly. Spending time getting to know each other and these habits early on was incredibly helpful for all of us, and we appreciated that she made a point to do so. I also want to highlight a few of Rohina’s strengths that meant the most to us. * Trustworthiness: I felt completely at ease leaving my daughter with Rohina, something I have not felt with prior caregivers. Rohina took our daughter to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham about 2x/week, and I knew my daughter was always safe and well cared for during the drives and the outings with Rohina. * Strong background in education: As a former Montessori teacher, Rohina has a strong awareness of and interest in our daughter’s developmental stages and fostered her development through imaginative activities. My husband and I were always impressed by the sensory activities and play set-ups that Rohina created with our daughter, as well as the observations that she shared with us each day. She frequently helped us understand our daughter’s behavior through a developmental lens, and even as our nanny arrangement was coming to an end, she set us up for success with developmentally appropriate toy and play recommendations and anticipatory guidance on what might be useful to know for the upcoming months. She also brought library books to read with our daughter - a step above and beyond what we would expect from a nanny. She is truly an educator. * Incredibly helpful for first-time parents: With Rohina, we felt like our daughter had a third parent to help us through some challenging times. Rohina observed our daughter and helped us make decisions and implement changes such as introducing solids, switching from a 3-nap to a 2-nap schedule, and coping with appetite and temperament changes during teething. As first time parents, this extra support was invaluable. One example which I greatly appreciated: the first time we thought we may want to transition to 2 naps, Rohina committed to trying the new schedule with us. She quickly identified that our daughter was not quite ready, and she was right. It felt reassuring that she knew our daughter so well and could read her cues so clearly to offer her informed perspective. When we tried again a month later, we all agreed that she was ready, and the transition was a success. * Reliability + Flexibility: Rohina was always reliable with the schedule we created. In addition, she recognized when we were having an especially difficult time (i.e., a string of sleepless nights during teething) and offered additional help if needed. Her empathy extended to our whole family unit, and we really felt like she was there for us. Our daughter really thrived and was consistently happy during this arrangement, which is the greatest testament to what a positive experience this was with Rohina!
