I have grown up caring for children and babysitting them, but my main career with children began in my senior year of high school. I was a live-in nanny for 7 children in Ft. Wayne, IN, from the ages of 2 years old to 14 years old for 2 months. I greatly enjoyed caring for them and playing with them throughout the days. My main duties were to care for the youngest 5 children, beginning with 2 twin boys of the age of 2, and then a 5-year-old, a 7-year-old and a 10-year-old, keeping them occupied and driving them to their respective lessons and activities, attending games and swim meets. I would cook meals for them, clean up after meals, enforce the rules, put them down for naps and get them ready for bed at night. My other experience with children has been in the most recent two summers, which I have spent teaching week-long children's programs for the whole 8 weeks of summer. The age-range of these children was grades 1-12, and we taught them in sessions, sang songs with them, did skits for them, and monitored recess for them. I will be receiving my certification in Montessori training this upcoming fall and will also have the experience of working during the day in a Montessori school.
