I come from a family deeply rooted in caregiving. My mother is a nurse in Brazil and has spent her career caring for newborn bables and mothers during the earliest postpartum days. In our culture, she was often invited into homes to support new mothers with newborn care, including essential early practices such as bathing and umbilical cord care. From a very young age, l accompanied her and learned this level of attentiveness and care firsthand. Later in life, my mother also worked as a nanny, and assisted her between the ages of 9 and 13, gaining early hands-on experience with children and infants. For the past several years, I have also worked extensively in private homes, especially in overnight newborn care, as families began requesting my support helping their babies sleep, supporting new mothers, and assisting during the most delicate postpartum period.
