I cannot recommend Lorna highly enough. She was hired through Care.com to care for my mother-in-law and became one of a small, deeply trusted team of caregivers who cared for her during the final years of her life. My mother-in-law had lived with MS for more than 50 years and, following a stroke, required extensive assistance with virtually every aspect of daily living. Lorna handled an extraordinary range of responsibilities with competence, patience and compassion, including bathing and personal care, feeding and meals, bowel care, transportation, overnight care and the many other needs that come with caring for someone with significant needs. She traveled with her out of state regularly to provide overnight care when needed. But what made Lorna particularly special was that she cared about far more than my mother-in-law’s physical needs. She worked hard to keep her engaged, happy and positive, planned activities and outings for her, and brought warmth, humor and companionship into her days. She treated her with dignity and genuinely cared about her quality of life. My father- and mother-in-law had exceptionally high standards for the people they trusted with her care, and Lorna earned that trust completely. She became an important part of their lives and of our extended family. Following my mother-in-law’s recent passing, I am very happy to recommend Lorna to another family. Anyone fortunate enough to have her caring for someone they love will be in exceptionally capable and caring hands.
