Libby and I communicated easily for a few months prior to her start date through interviews and while waiting for her availability to open up after her summer travel. Libby worked with our family for one day and then resigned that evening, letting us know she would not be returning for her scheduled shift the following day. She said that after experiencing the position she did not feel the job was the right fit for her, but did not identify any specific concern when I asked if there was something we could address. I respect that a job may turn out not to be a good fit, but the complete lack of notice left our family in a very difficult childcare position. My husband was out of town for the week and I had a two-day conference I was headed to the next day. It was a real bind and very frustrating after the time and energy it took to put something in place. Based on our experience, I would caution anyone against relying on her for a long-term childcare commitment.
