I am currently a 21-year-old college student seeking my Pediatrics in Medical Science degree, with night classes, so I am looking for a job that would fulfill my love for children for at least a year or possibly longer. I have worked at a daycare all throughout high school and after, with ages 6 weeks - 5 years of age. I had a little boy in August of 2011, so the ideal position would be where on occasion when his father isn't home in between deployments, I could bring him. (If sick at all or showing signs, there are other options for him to have care). Although, I'd like to bring him with me for interaction with other children. I total understand if you wouldn't want me to do so. There is no deployment listed for him again this year. My son is a very good baby and can be independent playing with his toys; so I won't have to take attention away from your children. I also have siblings at home, ages 16 (girl), 13 (boy), 12 (girl), and 8 (boy who has ADD), so I am currently up to date on the cool and not so cool things with the older grade school children that mom and dad don't know. This includes Angry birds, PlayStation/ Xbox games, and music.
Kayla starting working with our family about a month ago - it was a great fit for all of us and we loved her. We talked in the beginning about how we were looking for someone who wanted to be part of the family and be with us long term. The references that I spoke to said that she was reliable, dependent, great with kids of all ages and stages, and very trustworthy. Her son played well with our boys and she did all kinds of things with them. She was very friendly, had lots of energy, did great with the baby, the kids loved her. We worked around her schedule when she needed time for dr. and arrangements and tried to make things as easy for her as possible. Then, she went on vacation last week and never came back. We couldn't get a hold of her for two days, when she was supposed to be back to work, I was floored. Today, I got a text message saying she couldn't work with us anymore even though she loved our family because she had things going on that needed her attention with her family. I understand things can change and you need to put your family first, but I was very surprised and disappointed by how Kayla handled telling us and leaving the position.
