About Katarina

For the past four summers, I've worked as a counselor and program director at a camp for people of all abilities. When I leave the accessible and inclusive environment of the camp, the harsh reality of our inaccessible society affects me more each time. I spend much of my time advocating for people with disabilities at all intersections while educating others who don't have exposure and experience with the community. I want to eradicate the negative perceptions and stigma of disability and the social injustice in our culture. In our society, it is a regular narrative that people like me are saints for choosing this type of career, but we are not. We are allies attempting to work as a team to accomplish the same goal of inclusion and acceptance. I'm here to learn, be inclusive, and be help people with disabilities have the support they need to live independent lives.
