Care-giving has become my calling, mission, and purpose, having taken care of an elderly family member for more than 12 years, offering household, physical, administrative, mental, and emotional support. I managed all aspects of her care as well as anything that was needed for the household to function smoothly (because all her close relatives lived too far away.) I have assisted more than 10 other families in the past 10 years. For example, I took care of the shopping, cooking, cleaning, medications, and driving; communicating and coordinating among all her doctors, specialists, and healthcare providers; making sure that all key family members were kept informed about any changes in her conditions. Making sure her household ran smoothly. I am very grateful that I was able to help my aunt remain in her own home, aging-in-place. I am a care provider registered with Santa Clara County IHSS, which covers a more extensive background check (DOJ and FBI) than this system can provide.
