About Dora

Dora was our daughter K’s nanny for approximately seven years, beginning when K was 18 months old. She first worked with our family in Chicago and moved with us to California, where she became our full-time nanny. Even after our family circumstances changed, Dora continued to care for K across two households. She was an extraordinary presence in K’s childhood. At the time, K’s father and I had demanding careers involving long hours and frequent travel, so Dora took primary responsibility for K’s day-to-day care during the workweek. She managed everything from meals, school, activities and transportation to playdates and the countless small details of raising a young child. She handled these responsibilities with exceptional reliability, initiative and good judgment. I always knew K was in excellent hands. Dora is smart, conscientious, patient and an excellent communicator. She has a wonderfully warm and loving personality, coupled with the calm firmness needed to guide a strong-willed child. She found creative activities for K, helped her build friendships, and provided the consistency, structure, and affection children need. Most importantly, she genuinely cared about K and the two developed a close bond. Although many years have passed since Dora worked for our family, we have remained in touch. That lasting connection is a testament to the trust and affection she inspired. I continue to think of her with great fondness and gratitude for the important role she played in our daughter’s life.
