Experience: 19 yrs
Hello, my name is Cathy. I have been caring for seniors with complex diseases for 19 years. My care includes everything from companionship, medications, wound care, bowel care to transporting and Hoyer lifts. I can help maintain the home and prepare meals. I love animals and enjoy walking them. I have had the honor to be with patients in hospice care. I believe in caring for someone the way I would want to be cared for. I have excellent references and my resume is available upon request.
Cathy was a home care for my husband. Not only was she a wonderful care giver, she had ways to chatting with my husband that lifted his spirits. Some background - my husband had FSH Muscular Dystrophy. When Cathy started working with John she helped him stand, he could walk very carefully with a walker with Cathy by his side. She gave him his baths and ‘assisted him’ as he shaved, brush his teeth and helped him with his personal needs. John spent the day in his wheelchair and eventually became totally bedridden. Her ‘easy’ way of handling my fragile husband gave him security and trust in her actions and words. Even as a professional ‘caregiver’ Cathy was able to lift John’s spirits in a variety of ways. Often I watched the 2 of them as Cathy did transfers, feeding, giving meds and sometimes sit in the chair next to the bed and just talked. I traveled often for work and felt completely comfortable with John in Cathy’s care. She took care of him and sent me updates during the day. Yes, she often stayed over night. John had complete confidence in Cathy. She secured his confidence day after day. Cathy joined us on doctor appointments. She visited, ‘checked on’ John when he was in intensive care for almost a month and was with us when John took his last breath. We went through several care givers before Cathy came into our lives. She earned my respect snd total confidence. Most importantly, John had complete confidence in Cathy. I can’t imagine John without Cathy during his last months.
