About Ailis

I'm originally from the East Coast (New England) and I nannied for 2 years in Burlington, Vermont during my college education in Plant Biology. I'm big on taking slow walks in nature and bringing a magnifying glass to help identify plants, fungi, trees, and the occasional animal too. Teaching respectful stewardship of our environment from a young age is very important to me, but also letting in a little bit of magic and fairy house building. Finally, I spent two years living and working in Guatemala in a small rural community health post. I speak Advanced Mid Spanish according to ACTFL, and would love to help a family in their bilingual teaching journey! I work with kids b/c their ability to see through the walls people put up reminds me of what it really takes to build community in your neighborhood. One thing you should know about me is I was a lifeguard for 5 years, and a camp counselor/trip leader for two years. Canoeing is one of my favorite ways to experience the outdoors.
